Individual Online Counselling for Adults in the UK

Laurie Hole, UK-based online counsellor, sitting in Poole Park and looking into the distance.

Who I work with

Many of the people I work with are outwardly capable, successful, and doing everything they thought they should — or were expected to do. Yet inside, they’re second-guessing themselves, wondering why they can’t move on after a life event they feel they ought to be over by now, or never quite feeling good enough despite how things look on the surface.

You may notice that you:

☑︎ replay conversations long after they’ve ended

☑︎ struggle to trust your own feelings or decisions

☑︎ feel responsible for other people’s emotions

☑︎ find it hard to rest without guilt

☑︎ move through life on autopilot, unsure what you actually want or need

For some, there’s a sense of something missing but no clear language for it. For others, it’s a quiet loneliness — even in relationships — or the feeling of always being slightly out of step with the world around them.

Individual online therapy offers space to slow this down, understand what’s been shaping these patterns, and begin relating to yourself with more compassion — rather than feeling you have to keep adapting yourself in order to fit.

How I work

Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you – it’s about gently untangling what’s been holding you back. It’s a space to get curious about yourself, explore how your early life experiences influence who you are today, and move toward a life that feels more fulfilling, meaningful, and true to you and your values.

I bring warmth, curiosity, and a down-to-earth approach to our work together. When words are hard to find or feelings feel out of reach, we might use metaphor, humour, or creative and trauma-informed approaches to help you connect with what’s going on beneath the surface – especially when talking alone doesn’t feel enough.

I welcome clients who identify as neurodivergent, highly sensitive (HSP), and those navigating life as part of the LGBTQIA+ community – offering space and understanding for these important parts of your story.

If you’re ready – or even just curious – to understand yourself better, I will work with you to co-create a space where you begin to let go of the beliefs and expectations that have been quietly undermining your confidence and self-esteem, and build the foundation for a life that feels meaningful, fulfilling, and genuinely connected – in ways that last long after therapy ends.

My Areas of Specialist Interest

These are areas of specialist interest in my work — but it’s okay if your experience doesn’t fit neatly into any one of them.

For support around bereavement, break-ups, family estrangement, and significant life changes.

For struggles with people-pleasing, self-doubt, and difficulties in relationships that feel stuck.

A space for all adults (including late-realised) navigating identity and finding their place in a neurotypical world.

Online therapy became more popular during the pandemic, but it’s been around for much longer — and for good reason. It offers flexibility, accessibility, and comfort that many people find invaluable.

Why choose online therapy?

☑︎ It fits into your life. With no need to travel, it’s easier to make space for therapy around work, parenting, or other commitments.

☑︎ You’re not limited by geography. Whether you live remotely, travel often, or work in a different location from home, online therapy offers consistent support wherever you are.

☑︎ You can feel more at ease. Being in your own familiar surroundings can help reduce some of the anxiety that may come with starting therapy.

☑︎ You can find the right therapist for you. Working online opens up access to a wider network of professionals, making it easier to find someone you feel truly connected to — which is one of the most important factors in therapeutic success.

To get the most from your sessions, you’ll need a secure internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a quiet space where you feel safe and uninterrupted.
